SCHOLARSHIPS

2024-2025 Chairman ~ Joan Barnhart

This program includes National scholarships for students.  The Voice of Democracy is a speech writing competition, which has been around since 1947.  It is open to High School students, who write and record an essay on an announced topic.  The Patriot's Pen competition is open to middle school students, who submit a written essay.  The Patriotic Art competition is open to high school students who express their patriotism through art.  The Auxiliary also offers a scholarship to members for their continuing education.

* CONTINUING EDUCATION - Deadline is February 15, 2023

* YOUNG AMERICAN CREATIVE PATRIOTIC ART - Deadline is March 31, 2023
  • The Young American Creative Patriotic Art was started in 1979 under National President Vona Houtz with the purpose of recognizing up-and-coming artists and encouraging patriotism in youth.  Each year, more than 4000 high school students enter their artwork for a chance to earn a share of $34,000 in scholarship money.

* 3-DIMENSIONAL PATRIOTIC ART - Deadline is March 31, 2023
  • 3-Dimensional Patriotic Art is brand new as of the 2022-2023 year. It is the creation and special project of National President Jane Reape. The decision to create an entirely separate contest for the three-dimensional artwork was made to facilitate judging by category. After three-dimensional artwork was introduced as a category of Patriotic Art, we heard from members that judging items like sculpture and crocheted pieces against paintings and drawings is tough to do. It’s like comparing apples to oranges. We hope to see many entries for this new contest, so be sure to get the word out.
